1. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information. Qalam has no sign-up, no login, and no user accounts. We do not ask for a name, email address, phone number, location, or any other personal detail from you or your child. The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking, no in-app purchases, and no links that lead children out of the app.
2. Everything stays on your device
Qalam runs entirely on your device and needs no internet connection to use. All learning content — letters, words, illustrations, and audio — is bundled inside the app.
Tracing & progress: when your child traces a letter or word, the strokes and any practice data are stored locally on the device only. They are never uploaded or transmitted to us or to anyone else.
Audio: pronunciations play from bundled recordings or from Apple’s on-device speech feature. Qalam does not use the microphone and does not record any audio.
Saving a drawing: your child can save a colouring to your device’s photo library. This only happens when someone taps “save,” and the image goes to your device’s Photos — we never receive or see it. iOS asks your permission the first time; you can change it anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
3. Children’s privacy
Qalam is a child-directed app, and we designed it to comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU GDPR provisions for children (GDPR-K), and Apple’s Kids Category guidelines. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, there is no children’s data for us to access, use, disclose, or retain.
4. Data sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose personal information, because we do not collect any. The app integrates no third-party SDKs for advertising, analytics, or social media.
5. Data security
Any content created in the app stays on your device and is protected by your device’s own security. Deleting the app removes this local content.
6. Your rights
Since we hold no personal information, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on request. You stay in full control of anything stored locally by removing it from your device or deleting the app.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will update the date above. If a future version of the app ever collects information, we will update this policy first and obtain any legally required consent, including verifiable parental consent where applicable.
